Barnes and the township also offer residents the ability to drop leaves free of charge year-round at the Yard Waste Recovery Center, 1630 Camp Road, Huron, Ohio. Leaves have to be clean of all other yard waste.
The leaf collection program for 2013 has changed due to budgetary reductions. The township will be offering the program with a new, one-man leaf collection truck. The Highway Department has begun the program and will be doing random pickup throughout the township during the week of October 28, 2013. The collection will be done in a rotation, east to west, beginning the first full week in November and will continue until the second week of December, 2013.
Residents are reminded that leaves should be placed along the roadside, but not in the street or gutter to insure drainage is not affected. Leaves should be placed in a linear windrow to aid collection.
Material should be leaves only, free of other plant material, sticks, and debris to prevent damage to the equipment. Piles containing foreign debris will not be collected. Residents should not place leaves behind parked cars preventing access. During the season, temporary no-parking restrictions will be placed on local streets.
