By March of each year the Board of Trustees must adopt the permanent appropriations for the operations of the various departments of the Township. These appropriations are based on the money not spent from the previous year plus the new money that is expected to be received during the year. As the year goes on, the Board can amend the appropriations based on the actual income and expenses.

The Perkins Township Trustees, working with the administrators of the Police, Fire, and Highway Departments, have compiled the 2011 Proposed Appropriations Budget that was adopted on July 13, 2010.
Each year the Proposed Appropriations are presented to the residents of the Township and to the Eire County Budget Commission to show the need for the tax dollars allocated to the Township. In August the Budget Commission will certify the amount of estimated funds available to the Township.
The funds are a combination of tax dollars, other income estimated to be received by the Township, and rollover funds from 2010. Rollover funds are those amounts not already committed for specific purchases or expenses. Once the amount of the rollover funds are determined, the Trustees will adopt the actual Appropriations for 2011, no later March 31st.
